How to get more participation with your LinkedIn groups

by admin on November 15, 2010

More and more people are asking me this question so I thought it was time to write a post. Unfortunately, while the answer is simple, it is not that easy to execute.

The first thing you need to do is to provide something that your group members consider valuable. Our natural instinct is to engage and connect. However in this day and age we are all too busy to do this. So to engage people, you have to tap into their passion or at the very least to stuff they care about.

Two things that I’ve seen in the successful groups:
1- Interesting questions
2- Acknowledgement from the managers to those who participate.

So in summary, you have to make it interesting/engaging for your members to participate and you have to acknowledge/encourage them when they do. Once you do this on a regular basis, the group will start having some momentum which in turn will encourage more people to participate.
