This environment is ripe with opportunity

by Rick Itzkowich on November 7, 2008

Right now, people are scared. Sales are more difficult to come by. People are not buying. They are canceling what they bought. What’s one to do?

I’ve always enjoyed looking at the world through a somewhat contrarian lens. So I’ll that right now there are more opportunities than we’ve had in a decade. Let’s look at a few.

There’s the opportunity to reinvent yourself. It is clear that doing the same thing you’ve always done is not working – i.e. just putting more effort into doing the same activities you’ve done is not going to get the job done. The economic and psychological climate has changed and so must we. So who do you want to become? Right now is the perfect time to embark on that quest.

There’s the opportunity to strengthen relationships with your existing clients and earn more loyalty for years to come. One of my clients just contacted me and was telling me how she couldn’t make her payments for some of the courses she had registered for. Rather than just canceling her courses, we found some creative ways of reworking her payments and adjusting her curriculum. She expressed to me such sense of appreciation for having helped her out that not only did this allow her to “stay in the conversation” with us, but it also bought me some loyalty for the future.

Where’s the opportunity for you?
